I’m going to jump right into the deep waters with this post because I believe it will benefit women (and men) and families to do so. I’ve been on a womb wellness journey for the past fifteen years since finding out that I had uterine fibroids and I’ve gone through all kinds of changes – spiritual, mental and physical – and dozens of natural remedies seeking optimal health and relief from the tremendous pain caused by the fibroids. My situation finally got to the point where the universe was sending me signs that a hysterectomy would be the best option for me. I resisted for as long as I could, burdened by a sense of shame and anxiety that my condition was my fault, preferring to try to heal myself naturally, but the universe stepped in with force, shaking my whole world, and I had to make a decision.
It took a lot of prayer, a lot of research, and a lot of love and support from my family and my dearest friends to get me to come to the decision that I would undergo the surgery, and let me say: I sincerely believe that it was the best decision that I’ve made in a very long time. (And I have to mention the angel of a surgeon who did the procedure, he will forever be in my prayers 🙏🏾.) The six weeks of recovery have given me the time and space to reflect on my journey and I’m blessed to have found gratitude and joy in my decision. We as women have a tendency to carry burdens that we are not meant to carry as a means of seeking safety and security for ourselves and our families and in the process of trying to control the outcomes of situations around us, we exhaust ourselves.
I’m writing this post to remind myself and to tell you, dear reader, that it’s ok to lay your burdens down. We all have our own walk to walk and our own journeys to make in this life, and all of us our different, but we are not alone. We have each other. We have the universe. We have God. If God loves us, if God forgives us for our shortcomings, how can we not love and forgive ourselves? How can we not love and forgive one another?
Womb wellness entails so much more than just what we eat, how we exercise and what chemicals we use in our hair and on our bodies. How we pray, how we think and how we show up for ourselves and others is also a major factor. My journey continues, thank be to God, and there is much less pain and much more joy now. More wisdom, more love, more gratitude, and more focus to continue to do the good work necessary for continued growth and healing. And I hope and pray that there will be much less pain and much more joy in your journey too.
Peace, blessings, good health and abundance to you and yours! 🤲🏾💖🫶🏾🌸🙏🏾💪🏾💕💕💕
