My Womb Wellness Journey

I’m going to jump right into the deep waters with this post because I believe it will benefit women (and men) and families to do so. I’ve been on a womb wellness journey for the past fifteen years since finding out that I had uterine fibroids and I’ve gone through all kinds of changes – spiritual, mental and physical – and dozens of natural remedies seeking optimal health and relief from the tremendous pain caused by the fibroids. My situation finally got to the point where the universe was sending me signs that a hysterectomy would be the best option for me. I resisted for as long as I could, burdened by a sense of shame and anxiety that my condition was my fault, preferring to try to heal myself naturally, but the universe stepped in with force, shaking my whole world, and I had to make a decision.

It took a lot of prayer, a lot of research, and a lot of love and support from my family and my dearest friends to get me to come to the decision that I would undergo the surgery, and let me say: I sincerely believe that it was the best decision that I’ve made in a very long time. (And I have to mention the angel of a surgeon who did the procedure, he will forever be in my prayers 🙏🏾.) The six weeks of recovery have given me the time and space to reflect on my journey and I’m blessed to have found gratitude and joy in my decision. We as women have a tendency to carry burdens that we are not meant to carry as a means of seeking safety and security for ourselves and our families and in the process of trying to control the outcomes of situations around us, we exhaust ourselves.

I’m writing this post to remind myself and to tell you, dear reader, that it’s ok to lay your burdens down. We all have our own walk to walk and our own journeys to make in this life, and all of us our different, but we are not alone. We have each other. We have the universe. We have God. If God loves us, if God forgives us for our shortcomings, how can we not love and forgive ourselves? How can we not love and forgive one another?

Womb wellness entails so much more than just what we eat, how we exercise and what chemicals we use in our hair and on our bodies. How we pray, how we think and how we show up for ourselves and others is also a major factor. My journey continues, thank be to God, and there is much less pain and much more joy now. More wisdom, more love, more gratitude, and more focus to continue to do the good work necessary for continued growth and healing. And I hope and pray that there will be much less pain and much more joy in your journey too.

Peace, blessings, good health and abundance to you and yours! 🤲🏾💖🫶🏾🌸🙏🏾💪🏾💕💕💕

Recipes: Flaxseed & Cinnamon Pancakes 🤗🥞😋

Ok. So here’s the first recipe I’ve made since transforming my kitchen into my Healing Kitchen Laboratory 🤗 (Thanks and gratitude to Queen Afua for sharing her wisdom in her book, Sacred Woman, A Guide to Healing the Feminine Body, Mind, and Spirit)!

Transitioning into an alkaline or vegan diet isn’t easy and it should be done prayerfully and in consultation with a professional when possible, and I’ve personally benefited from making the effort immensely so here’s a recipe that tastes yummy, is gentle on the digestion, and takes a first step towards adding more nutrients to your food while building towards eliminating foods that are harmful:

Ingredients:

Ground flaxseed

Ground Cinnamon

Pancake mix of your choosing

Cooking oil of your choosing (I used vegetable oil)

Instructions:

  1. Mix 1 teaspoon of ground flaxseed and 1/2 teaspoons of cinnamon per cup of pancake mix in a large bowl with water to the desired thickness for the pancakes. (Follow the instructions for the pancakes on the box or according to the recipe)
  2. Stir/mix until all of the ingredients are moist and there aren’t any lumps.
  3. Heat your skillet or frying pan to low-medium heat.
  4. Add enough cooking oil to cover the surface of the pan to minimize sticking.
  5. Pour your mixture and cook on both sides until golden. And enjoy!

Book Recommendation: Sacred Woman

Sacred Woman, A Guide to Healing the Feminine Body, Mind, and Spirit by Queen Afua has been by far the best book I’ve been blessed to read concerning the health and well-being of women. Although this book is written by an African American woman and primarily addresses women of color, all women of all colors and backgrounds could benefit from the wealth of knowledge and wisdom within it.

My personal journey has been on the path of naturally healing from large uterine fibroids which have compromised my overall wellness, and although I’ve had some success in the past, since acquiring this book, my healing process has improved so deeply that I’m inspired to share this information with as many women as I can reach.

The book is available for purchase on Amazon and I highly recommend that you get your own personal copy so that you can refer back to it like an encyclopedia of wellness.

Peace, blessings and good health to you and yours!
